My name is Luis Zurita, and I was born right here in Las Vegas, Nevada. When I was just three years old, my mom moved our family to Bakersfield, California. But every summer during my teenage years, I’d come back to Las Vegas to stay with my uncle. Those three months weren’t free — I had to work — but honestly, I feel lucky for it. My uncle owned a lawn care and landscaping business, and those summers were my first real taste of hard work and responsibility.
When I turned 18, I made the decision to move back to the city where I was born. I started working full-time for my uncle, finally getting paid! He taught me everything — how to mow properly, how to fix irrigation systems, and just as importantly, how to connect with customers and take pride in your work.
Sadly, life took a hard turn when tragedy struck my uncle, and I had to find a new path. But in 2022, my cousin Pedro and I started dreaming again. Our casual talks about starting our own lawn care and landscaping company slowly grew into something real — and that’s how Desert Palms Landscaping came to life. It’s more than a business to us; it’s a legacy born from hard work, family, and passion.

Hi, I’m Pedro Zurita, born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Growing up, I was often the quiet kid who kept to himself, watching the world from the sidelines. But everything began to change in high school when I took my first business and marketing classes. Suddenly, something clicked. I felt drawn to the idea of building something meaningful, and I knew that wherever life took me, business would be a part of it.
Like many teenagers, I wasn’t exactly sure what my future looked like, but I did know I wanted to keep learning. So, I enrolled at the College of Southern Nevada, majoring in business. To support myself, I took a job at Home Depot, and there, I found a surprising passion for home improvement — a world full of creativity and possibility.
In 2022, my cousin Luis and I started talking about our dreams and ideas. We both shared a love for hard work and a vision for the future. We kept coming back to one thing — lawn care and landscaping. That’s when Desert Palms Landscaping came to life — a business born from family, passion, and a desire to build something lasting.

A strong partnership only works when each person truly complements the other — and that’s exactly what Luis and Pedro share. We have so much in common: a drive that never quits, a relentless work ethic, and a deep willingness to do whatever it takes to succeed. But what really fuels us is something bigger than just business — it’s the dream of a better life, not only for ourselves but for our whole family. Our family doesn’t have a retirement plan, and that reality pushes us every day. We want to be the safety net, the future, the hope for them.
What keeps us going, too, is the fact that neither of us wants to see the other fail. That bond — that unspoken promise to lift each other up — keeps our hunger and motivation alive, no matter the challenges we face.
Beyond that, we each bring different strengths that make our partnership whole. Luis carries with him the heart and soul of landscaping — and that’s more than just mowing lawns. He knows every part of this industry inside and out, from A to Z. Pedro brings the business side — the computer skills, the business lingo, the marketing know-how, and the strategies that help our company grow and be seen.
